American promoter – about the return of Boxing, the Tyson–Holyfield 3 fight and lightweight fights

A native of Odessa, a former contender for the world title in the first Welterweight, and now an American promoter Dmitry Salita had a conversation with a journalist of the news portal EsNews.

In an interview, Dmitry spoke about the return of Boxing, commented on the possible third bout of heavyweight legends Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, and also gave a comment about possible light-weight fights.

— UFC is back on the screens, when do you think Boxing will return?

— Based on what Top Rank said, Boxing is coming back to ESPN in June, Showtime is coming back in July, I think Matchroom Boxing is also coming back in July. It’s good. It makes me feel like I miss Boxing. As a Boxing fan, I am very happy about this.

  • Evander Holyfield said on the podcast that he was approached by Tyson’s people and they were talking seriously about organizing the Holyfield – Tyson 3 fight. Tell me, as a promoter, how would you organize it, and how big is the fight?

— I think it’s a huge fight. We recently saw Tyson working on his paws, and a few days later, Holyfield showed up. You know, money is everything. I still think this is a huge event. Physically, Tyson looks great, but he’s 53. people shouldn’t fool themselves into believing that he’s anything close to the guy who was in 1982, 1984, 1986. Although, you know, one more time, maybe… He is one of the most famous fighters today. The fight with Holyfield will be huge.

— How many pay-per-view broadcasts will such a fight sell? Will it break the record, be the best-selling event?

— I think, in our era, the fight will be sold all over the world and will be somewhere comparable.

— The light weight category is the hottest division in Boxing right now. Tell me about it. What matches would you like to see?

— Yes, this is an interesting division. Offer me the possible ones.

  • Ryan Garcia-Abner Mares. Abner is at 59, but will go up at 61.

— Garcia. He’s younger, faster, bigger, stronger. Abner is smaller, inactive. This is an easy choice for me.

— Servant Davis – Leo Santa Cruz?

— Servant Davis. He’s younger, more athletic, faster. Leo Santa Cruz is not as athletic, not as coordinated, slower. If Geronte will fit and focused, I think he will look amazing against this guy.

Classification from Teofilo Lopez: Devin Hani? Schka. Ryan Garcia? SHKA
— Teofilo Lopez – Devin Hani.

— This is a great fight. Teofimo Lopez is a very athletic, solid skills. You need to give a slight advantage Teofimo. He is fresher, better looking in terms of technique than Devin Haney. Haney fought with good opposition, he is very well led, but in some of his fights, he fought several rounds or it took him time to” figure out ” the guy. The guys he was fighting were getting into his weight, they were slower. He showed spectacular knockouts, but he was not as spectacular as Teofilo Lopez. Great fight, but I give a slight advantage Teofilo.

  • Teofimo Lopez is 22 years old, Devin Haney is 21, Ryan Garcia is 22, Romero I think is 21, Lomachenko is obviously older, as is Linares. Almost the entire division will then move to 63.5 kg, and later to 66.7 kg.

— The most difficult thing about this is that most of these guys box on different TV platforms, on different TV networks. It will be interesting to see if these fights take place.
